Poster Child

On the way to Dr. Week's office, I get off of the elevator and in a glass case the AGLE interns bio's are up.  I am famous, well at least on the 4^th floor of Ag hall.  It is not my most flattering picture, but hey I’ll go with it.  Feel free to ask for an autograph at any time.

Let me just say that I am thankful that Mr. and Mrs. Dr. Weeks are my good friends.  After a cup of coffee, a long talk, the three of us managed to make something work!  I am now in fifteen hours and I am still able to graduate in December!

It is Friday; the first/last week of college is down in the books as a win.  The score: Lindsey-1 Class-0.  I am sure this will continue to change as the semester progresses.  As for now, I am in the lead and going to try to keep it that way.

My First/Last

Today marks my first/last day of my college career.  It’s a bittersweet feeling, to say the least.  I cannot believe that the past three years have gone by so fast.  I am not going to live in the past; I am excited and ready for the present and the future!

Guess what?  I am now the proud owner of an iPhone 4.  Who knew something could be so great?  I am already addicted; it might be the best thing ever.  I never thought that I would be the one ignoring everyone around me, playing games, and tweeting my life away.  I am now “that girl”

Friday was my dad’s birthday, so I made the trip home to hang out with the family and go out for birthday dinner.  My sister and I attacked the seafood buffet.  I think we consumed six crab legs each.  It was pretty much fantastic.  Then, we went to Wal-Mart, purchased Ben & Jerry’s ice cream and the Last Song.  It was a girl night all the way.

With the left over pie crust I sprinkled cinnamon and sugar on them.  I call these the crunches; they are great with a cup of coffee in the morning.

News today, I am unemployed!  I have been at an upscale dress shop since my freshman year.  I loved working there. However, I just feel like I need a new direction.  So I went in today and talked to them.  Needless to say,  I no longer have a job.  On the bright side, I will start a new job in a week or so with the State 4-H office, and I am excited about it!  It will go more on my schedule and no more working on weekends! AHH!  I cannot wait for football season!

Tonight is formal dinner and chapter; it should be an exciting night.  I always look forward to catching up with sisters after the summer break.  I love hearing what everyone has been doing.  Also, it’s like a fashion show; there are so many cute dresses and shoes.  I am an avid lover of both, so it makes for a good time.

Welcome Home!

Have you ever had an experience that was truly life changing? I feel like I have been blessed with so many things in life. I served as a recruitment counselor better known as “gamma chi” and it gave me a whole new perspective on things. I cannot believe my time in college is coming to an end. It seems like just yesterday I was going through recruitment looking for a place that I could call home. Little did I know that Alpha Delta Pi would make me grow and change into the women I wanted to be. Somehow they saw all along in me from the start. It sounds cheesy and stupid, but I mean that with all of my heart. My sisters hold a very special place in my heart.

The past two weeks as a gamma chi were wonderful even though there was a lack of sleep, 100 + temperatures, and dealing with all kinds of emotions. At this point, I am a hot mess.  I had 53 wonderful young girls on my floor and four amazing co’s. I could not have asked for a better experience. It was so nice to see the recruitment process from another angle. There was something about helping them through the recruitment journey and then seeing their face on bid day when they received their bid card and a t-shirt. That moment is sheer joy and stays with you forever. I remember my favorite gamma chi; I still talk to her on this day. She made an impact on me, and I hope I did that with my girls.

Four girls from my group pledged Alpha Delta Pi and their face light up when we did the gamma chi reveal. That was such a cool feeling; they are excited. I cannot wait to watch them grow during their college career. I am exhausted and I promise to update you more now that I have a life again!

I am Lindsey, Your Tour Guide

Yesterday was one of the most incredible days I have ever had!  From time to time I talk about moving away from Oklahoma, but after yesterday, I don’t know how I could want to do that for too long.

Personal Disclaimer: My camera battery is dead, and my charger is in Stillwater, so I have no pictures of this exciting day, I was very upset!

My day was off to an early start; I had to be in Tulsa by 7:20 a.m.  The only positive of being there that early, I had a doughnut with sprinkles (my favorite).  Then we loaded on the bus.  We had over 50 people going on the tour to Bartlesville.  We made a few stops, but my favorite was Woolaroc.  There is just so much history there.  I love all of the Native American things there; I find something new every time I visit.  This time, it was all of the information about the 101 Ranch.  I was just amazed at every single detail.  I think everyone should have to opportunity to see that magnificent collection that Woolaroc has to offer.

Next, it was off to discoveryland for a fabulous evening of entertainment.  The food was fantastic, and so were the people.  I happened to come across the cutest cowboy ever.  He came up and talked to me before the show and then proceeded to wink at me throughout the performance.  Then, he came off stage and asked me to dance, and he pulled me out of my chair and danced with me.  My heart melted a little. After the show was over; I never heard the end of it.  Everyone was giving me such a hard time about it; I was blushing.

I had the opportunity to meet people from all over the nation and everyone that I came across loved Oklahoma.  No one gives this place enough credit; it is a great place.  A lot of them said that they are going to bring their family and come back here for a vacation.  I think I had the biggest smile on my face at that point.

My favorite people were from Kentucky; they were just darling.  They all wanted to take me home with them.  I told them that my family might not like that too much.  However, I am looking into graduate school there; it sparked an interest.
