Going on vacation is one of the best things we can do for our mental health. It is a place to unplug, recharge, and reflect on what you want out of life. My husband and I try to escape the rat race once a year around this time. Our trip also coordinates with our wedding anniversary (not really on purpose, it just works best for his schedule). In my mind, there is only one downside about coming back from vacation, catching up on laundry and housework. We got back into Oklahoma City about midnight on Friday, and I have been doing laundry ever since. I cannot wait to share more about our trip to Costa Rica with you very soon.

This handbag was perfect for traveling! When flying, I find it a must to have a bag with a zipper. I had a terrible experience once with my bag rolling over and all of my items falling out (it was so embarrassing). Another time I spilled an entire glass on top of my handbag (and all over the nice guy sitting beside me)! All I can say is bless up for zippers. I scored this bag during a Kate Spade surprise sale; it has been patiently waiting to make its debut. I love a good statement bag; they are instant conversation starters. I was pulled aside multiple times in the airport, everyone wondering where they could get this beautiful bag.

I am sad to say that this dress is almost sold out. However, it comes in a microgingham print (there are only two sizes left, and it's on mega sale)! I wore this exact outfit out to dinner on vacation. It's so easy to toss on and go! I haven't decided if I like it more with or without the belt. For length, I ordered it one size up. I have a booty, and sometimes it makes dresses way too short (and nobody wants to see that) for the office or church.

The earrings and necklace make this outfit pop! I happened to find these pom-pom accessories at a boutique in Stillwater, The Wooden Nickel. They do not have them listed online. However, they do still have them in stock (I double checked on Friday). This store always has the best selection of trendy jewelry at varying price points. The necklace is what caught my eye during my last shopping trip. I walked around the store for ten minutes trying to find the perfect earring to compliment them. I was checking out and saw them across the store. I know it's a little much, but I think it's whimsical and fun pair! Don't apologize for taking risks, just put on a smile and go with it.

Due to my lack of planning and preparation, this blog post is coming to you a day late. This past week, I was running around like a crazy lady prepping for vacation. Nothing like waiting until the last minute possible to run errands, right? I know I am not the only one who operates this way. Each time around this year my husband and I sneak away from work and get on an airplane. We trade our work shoes for flip flops and call the beach home for a week. Friday we landed in Costa Rica!

Thursday afternoon I rushed to the dry cleaners to pick up my order. One of the items, this great skirt! I packed this outfit for one of our date nights. It seriously breaks my heart that this skirt is sold out. I ordered it this spring, and it also came in a beautiful white option. In this season of life, I love the length of it. I can dress it up for the office and down for weekend brunch with my gal pals.

Right now, this tulip sleeve tee is sold out in white. However, there are two great options: deep garnet and whisper white. I think that this tee is on the dressier side because of the sleeve details. I could see it working for a casual Friday or paired with black slacks for a little more business casual. If you were to ever look into my closet, you would see a million of these type of tees in my closet. I think that it's all about how you accessories and pair plain tees with items to dress it up a notch. Right now, this tee is on sale for $35 (and an extra 40% off).

Let's take a moment to talk about this necklace. It was on my wishlist for months. I patiently waited until it went on clearance! It is even more beautiful in person. Right now, there is a summer option that was just released. It's on the pricey side, but my goodness is it beautiful! It still has a navy theme and gorgeous colors that you could match with multiple items in your closet. Who knows, it may even inspire you to match unexpected colors together. It is definitely on my must-watch list for now.

This handbag has been in my life for four years. On the way home from our honeymoon, we stopped in Dallas at the outlet mall. I knew that this purse had to come back with me. This bright and bold color has been one of my favorites for a while now. I have carried this bag each spring for four years now, and I must say, it still looks pretty good. I love high-quality products (just hate the price tag).

My personal style has evolved over the past ten years. The only thing that has remained constant, preppy flair. Last year over brunch, I told my husband that I wanted to take a note out of his playbook. He is an attorney and wears a suit each day. I would say a majority of his suits are navy and most of his shirts are in the blue family. I am a lady on a mission to add more navy to my wardrobe! I have always gravitated to black over navy, until now. I have banned myself from purchasing another black dress for at least six months. Y'all, it has gotten out of control!

This spring I have found a few great navy pieces to incorporate into my closet. The moment I saw this Gingham ruffle-hem dress, I knew it had to become mine. The length of this dress is fantastic; I wish more dresses came in this option. It also fits in all of the right places (if you know what I mean). To me, when looking for a dress, I want to fell confident and comfortable. It's the worst when you find a dress, and it's too tight in the booty area. When you have curves, you have to try things on to figure out what size works best for you. Don't get hung up on the number; I fluctuate depending on the cut and structure of the garment. There are only a few sizes left online, but you might be able to find one at your local J.Crew store. Right now it's on sale and an addition 30% off with code SHOPNOW.

This outfit is complete with the statement earrings and necklace. If I am sure of one thing: tassels are the 2017 summer trend. These two pieces are a little on the pricey side for a trend. However, they are both on sale right now. I usually tend to be on the cheaper side when it comes with trendy items. However, I think that I will wear these for years down the road. They are beautifully made and very high quality. If you are a Sooner girl (or have one in your life), you should get these earrings for gameday. I have a feeling that you will see more of this necklace and earring combo on the blog all season long.

A few weeks ago, I wore this dress to a lovely spring wedding. It was a little cooler that day, so I ended up putting a 3/4 length ruffle sleeved navy top under it. I am kicking myself for not taking a photo. I thought it looked incredible, but that's just my opinion. I love when you can make items in your closet (like this dress), work more than one way. It's all about being flexible and being willing to take risks.

Today is a very special day in my little corner of the world. My husband, Jered, is the big 3-0! Gosh, I remember being in elementary school and thirty seemed ancient! Now that it's creeping up on me, I am like heck no--I am not old! I need to take a moment and make a list of activities that I want to check off before I turn 30.

Jered had a big goal on his before 30 bucket list: to run the full OKC Memorial Marathon. For the past seventeen weeks, each Saturday (and other times throughout the week) he trained relentlessly. Some weeks were easier than others, obviously. I continued to support him with words of encouragement and eating Italian food every Friday night preparing for his long run the next morning (hey, I am not complaining about that). He kicked off his birthday week in style by waking up at 4:00 a.m. for marathon prep. Watching him cross the finish line brought tears to my eyes. It was so cool watching him accomplish a huge goal like this! I keep telling my friends that I feel like a tiny puffer pigeon. I am so proud of this man that I am lucky enough to call my husband!

Saturday morning it was chilly, overcast, with on and off sprinkles. Talk about terrible marathon conditions, holy moly! The local weathermen here in OKC blew this forecast, they called for perfect running conditions. Jered was less than impressed! I reached in my closet for this great sweater (I always wear a nude tank under it) from LOFT. I paired the sweater with skinny jeans, rain boots, and a trench coat. I must say, I like it more with this neon pink buffalo check skirt from J. Crew. I purchased this skirt earlier this year; it flew off shelves. I knew I had to have it in my life!

I shared this textured shirttail sweater earlier this spring on my Instagram. I have it in two colors (whisper white and orchid breeze). Right now it's on sale for less than $40! Since it's a tad longer, I decided to knot it up on one side to give it a more fitted look (I am wearing a size medium for reference). This top is so versatile, I can even see myself reaching for it in early fall.

If you are looking for a great nude chunky heel, you really should consider ordering these from Target. They are less than $30 and also come in black. They run true to size. However, the first time you wear them, they might be a little uncomfortable. I find them more comfy with each wear. You will have the comments rolling in, and everyone will be asking--where did you get those shoes? If you feel like being a pal, you can tell them what a great deal you got on them!
