Labor Day has come and gone. To me, this day has always symbolized an unofficial change of the season. Everywhere across the state of Oklahoma swimming pools are closing. The sound of ice cream trucks chiming with a happy song will soon be a distant memory. Despite pumpkin spice lattes making their appearance, the first day of fall is not until September 22. It's safe to say that I will still be sharing a few more summer finds here on Sassy Southern Lindsey. Summer is one of my favorite seasons; I don't know if I will ever lose that childlike excitement about this time of year. I have been working on fall outfits, don't worry--chunky sweaters will be here very soon. Heck, since the temperatures are lower here in Oklahoma today, I am wearing a fabulous mustard yellow sweater paired with a floral print skirt.

This summer I discovered something significant. You know I love sharing my tips and tricks with y'all. I am all about making things easier; shopping should be fun, not stressful! Before shopping in-store, you should check the online listings. Case and point, this stunning ruffle-shoulder sheath dress in byzantine blue is what brought all of this to my attention. To my knowledge, this particular color was only sold online. This dress also came in chambray (with white stitching) and ivory (with black stitching). I am so thankful I took the time to browse online before I visited the mall. During this particular shopping trip, I was a woman on a mission, looking for a summer wedding guest dress. There is something about this blue color that is so striking. I wore this to a summer wedding that took place indoors at a church, and the reception was at a beautiful barn. You would not believe the compliments I received about this dress. Everyone was gaga over this bold and vibrant color!

This is truly a summer dress since the fabric makeup is lyocell and linen. This garment also dry-clean only, which is a bummer. If you were packing this for a vacation, you would have to consider taking along a steamer to refresh this dress. I didn't have to wear a slip since the dress was already lined. To keep things simple, I paired this dress with a pair of longer earrings. I didn't want a necklace to compete with the fun statement sleeves. This dress almost makes you feel as beautiful as a butterfly. Right now, this J.Crew dress is on final sale for $55 (make sure to use code YESPLEASE but hurry, it expires at midnight).

As much as I love summer, I must say that I am excited about fall. The first Oklahoma State University football game of the season was last week. I am not much of a sports girl, however, I LIVE for high school and college football. I know this sounds weird, but I love watching games at home. Jered and I love checking Twitter for the best commentary. Sometimes I even live-tweet a few games throughout the season. What are you looking forward to the most this fall?
